I want to congratulate the students at the College of Southern Nevada, Nevada State College, and UNLV for finishing up their classes, and for their hard work in the final stretch of their current college careers! Your dedication is paying off as you are recognized with diplomas and congratulations from family and friends.
Most importantly, these students now have an education that allows them to confidently follow their dreams. A great education is about empowerment, and it should be within everyone's reach. I always keep in mind that the backbone of personal success is education. These students are now ready to succeed outside the classroom, and I can't wait to see the great things they will offer the state of Nevada!
It is important to recognize the teachers and administrators who make schooling possible. As you may know, CSN is the largest higher public education institution in Nevada and the faculty of CSN is just as amazing as the students they teach. The same goes for the faculty at our relatively new Nevada State College. The faculty there is constantly accessible, and provides our students with fantastic opportunities to shape their future.
Access to quality affordable higher education is critical for our state and for our children. If we want to grow our economy and attract new high-tech businesses to Nevada, we need to seriously prioritize our institutions of higher learning. Our young adults in Nevada deserve the opportunity to succeed in their home state, and they deserve the opportunity to attend schools that are adequately funded. That's why improving higher education is a top priority of mine: our children deserve the best, and higher education is the key to improving our state in the long term.
Congratulations, graduates! I am proud of you!
